      • We are preparing for the AP Physics B (APPB) exam. A course that is algebra based and covers a full year of freshman physics. In many places it is worth 8 college credits.
      • There is also the AP Physics C (calculus based) Mechanics (APPC-Mech) exam and the AP Physics C Electricity & Magnetism (APPC-E&M) exam.
      • If you are in calculus and are interested in the additional exam, you can register for the AP Physics B exam and the AP Physics C Mechanics Exams. The test dates & times are identical. If you want to take both, we notify the College Board that you have a test conflict. They will let you take the Calc based exam on the late test date. Then we can use the roughly 10 days between the exams to prep for the calc based test.
      • If you want to also take the E&M exam, that is your choice. However, I think it would be best to limit yourself to the APPB & APPC Mech exams.

But to lighten that load, here is a wonderfully physics-y story for you guys:(author unknown - Creative for sure, not sure about how appropriate it is.).

It all started when our predictably heroic hero, Mr. Lulai, woke up in a imaginery desert. It was the third time it had happened. Feeling scarcely worried, Mr. Lulai backhanded a dangerous oil-soaked rag, thinking it would make him feel better (but as usual, it did not). Heartily laughing like a very impressive and amazing manly man, he realized that his beloved Van De Graaff generator was missing! Immediately he called his redheaded stepchild of a 'friend', Neutrino. Mr. Lulai had known Neutrino for (plus or minus) 153 years, the majority of which were electric ones. Neutrino was unique. He was congenial though sometimes a little... annoying. Mr. Lulai called him anyway, for the situation was urgent.

Neutrino picked up to a very glad Mr. Lulai. Neutrino calmly assured him that most albino cats yawn before mating, yet long-haired sea monkeys usually charismatically yawn *after* mating. He had no idea what that meant; he was only concerned with distracting Mr. Lulai. Why was Neutrino trying to distract Mr. Lulai? Because he had snuck out from Mr. Lulai's with the Van De Graaff generator only two days prior. It was a saucy little Van De Graaff generator... how could he resist?

It didn't take long before Mr. Lulai got back to the subject at hand: his Van De Graaff generator. Neutrino turned red. Relunctantly, Neutrino invited him over, assuring him they'd find the Van De Graaff generator. Mr. Lulai grabbed his elephant and disembarked immediately. After hanging up the phone, Neutrino realized that he was in trouble. He had to find a place to hide the Van De Graaff generator and he had to do it aimlessly. He figured that if Mr. Lulai took the pimp fresh, candy-painted 'Lac, he had take at least ten minutes before Mr. Lulai would get there. But if he took the hovercraft? Then Neutrino would be exceedingly screwed.

Before he could come up with any reasonable ideas, Neutrino was interrupted by seven abrasive zebras that were lured by his Van De Graaff generator from the box of chalk in which they lived. Neutrino belched; 'Not again', he thought. Feeling puzzled, he thoughtfully reached for his banana and skillfully punched every last one of them. Apparently this was an adequate deterrent--the discouraged critters began to scurry back toward the swamp, squealing with discontent. He exhaled with relief. That's when he heard the hovercraft rolling up. It was Mr. Lulai

As he pulled up, he felt a sense of urgency. He had had to make an unscheduled stop at Sears to pick up a 12-pack of humanely killed frogs, so he knew he was running late. With a quick leap, Mr. Lulai was out of the hovercraft and went surreptitiously jaunting toward Neutrino's front door. Meanwhile inside, Neutrino was panicking. Not thinking, he tossed the Van De Graaff generator into a box of potatos and then slid the box behind his hammock. Neutrino was concerned but at least the Van De Graaff generator was concealed. The doorbell rang.

'Come in,' Neutrino earnestly purred. With a careful push, Mr. Lulai opened the door. 'Sorry for being late, but I was being chased by some oafish zealous...zealot in a time machine,' he lied. 'Schmeh,' Neutrino assured him. Mr. Lulai took a seat just under where Neutrino had hidden the Van De Graaff generator. Neutrino panicked trying unsuccessfully to hide his nervousness. 'Uhh, can I get you anything?' he blurted. But Mr. Lulai was distracted. Giggling like schoolgirl, Neutrino noticed an annoying look on Mr. Lulai's face. Mr. Lulai slowly opened his mouth to speak.

'...What's that frickety-frackin smell?'

Neutrino felt a stabbing pain in his armpit when Mr. Lulai asked this. In a moment of disbelief, he realized that he had hidden the Van De Graaff generator right by his oscillating fan. 'Wh-what? I don't smell anything..!' A lie. A annoying look started to form on Mr. Lulai's face. He turned to notice a box that seemed clearly out of place. 'Th-th-those are just my grandma's live hand grenades from when she used to have pet legless puppies. She, uh...dropped 'em by here earlier'. Mr. Lulai nodded with fake acknowledgement...then, before Neutrino could react, Mr. Lulai randomly lunged toward the box and opened it. The Van De Graaff generator was plainly in view.

Mr. Lulai stared at Neutrino for what what must've been ten nanoseconds. Absolutely thrilled, Neutrino groped explosively in Mr. Lulai's direction, clearly desperate. Mr. Lulai grabbed the Van De Graaff generator and bolted for the door. It was locked. Neutrino let out a sassy chuckle. 'If only you hadn't been so protective of that thing, none of this would have happened, Mr. Lulai,' he rebuked. Neutrino always had been a little pestering, so Mr. Lulai knew that reconciliation was not an option; he needed to escape before Neutrino did something crazy, like... start chucking bananas at him or something. Suddenly cheered up by Haugen’s pagan music, he gripped his Van De Graaff generator tightly and made a dash toward the window, diving headlong through the glass panels.

Neutrino looked on, blankly. 'What the stink? That seemed excessive. The other door was open, you know.' Silence from Mr. Lulai. 'And to think, I varnished that window frame three days ago...it never ends!' Suddenly he felt a tinge of concern for Mr. Lulai. 'Oh. You ..okay?' Still silence. Neutrino walked over to the window and looked down. Mr. Lulai was gone.

Just yonder, Mr. Lulai was struggling to make his way through the bush behind Neutrino's place. Mr. Lulai had severely hurt his armpit during the window incident, and was starting to lose strength. Another pack of feral zebra s suddenly appeared, having caught wind of the Van De Graaff generator. One by one they latched on to Mr. Lulai. Already weakened from his injury, Mr. Lulai yielded to the furry onslaught and collapsed. The last thing he saw before losing consciousness was a buzzing horde of zebra s running off with his Van De Graaff generator.

But then God came down with His congenial smile and restored Mr. Lulai's Van De Graaff generator. Feeling exasperated, God smote the zebra s for their injustice. Then He got in His curb-jumping ghetto sled (Impala) and jetted away with the fortitude of one million venomous koalas running from a oversized pack of Indonesian devil cats. Mr. Lulai stumbled with joy when he saw this. His Van De Graaff generator was safe. It was a good thing, too, because in four minutes his favorite TV show, the Packers game, was going to come on (followed immediately by 'When long-haired sea monkeys meet gun'). Mr. Lulai was jubilant. And so, everyone except Neutrino and a few rusty razor blade-toting venomous koalas lived blissfully happy, forever after.

      • Field Lines: Lines that show which way a tiny, imaginary test charge would be pushed. These lines:
        • Must Start & End on either a charge or infinity
        • The number of these lines indicate the strength of the E Field The lines Must Not Intersect.
      • Electric Field Vector Arrows: These are similar to the field lines mentioned above. A bit different though:
        • LENGTH of ARROW indicates strength of Field.
        • Arrow show strength of Field at The Origin of The Arrow
        • The Electric Field Vector Arrow (EFVA) does NOT have to start or end on a charge (nor infinity).
